Is a German import car worth it in Spain?
For the same budget you usually get a better-specified vehicle with a verifiable history. Here is what you gain and what we inspect in Germany before bringing a vehicle over.
Short answer#
Yes, in most cases it is worth it. For the same budget, a vehicle bought in Germany usually arrives with a higher equipment level, a recorded service history and a demanding technical inspection behind it. What matters is who selects the vehicle and who takes on the paperwork. This article explains exactly what you gain and how we check each unit before bringing it over.
What do you actually gain?#
Three concrete, measurable advantages:
- Documented history. In Germany services are logged in the maintenance book and in the manufacturer's systems. That lets you reconstruct the vehicle's life rather than trusting the seller's word.
- A tougher technical inspection. The HU (Hauptuntersuchung, the German equivalent of the ITV) is notoriously strict on brakes, suspension, corrosion and emissions. A vehicle that has passed it year after year arrives in better structural shape.
- More equipment for the same money. The German market fits as standard what is a paid option here: navigation, parking sensors, parking heaters, safety assistants. It is common to find the same price tag with two trim levels more.
What do we check before buying a vehicle?#
We do not bring a vehicle over until these four points are verified. If one of them does not add up, we walk away.

What if I import one myself?#
It rarely pays off. On top of the purchase price come transport, homologation, taxes and the Spanish registration, and the whole process usually runs to several weeks of admin. On top of that, a flaw in the German paperwork can leave the vehicle stranded and unregisterable with your money already spent.
